A buddy of mine has his truck getting repaired at the dealer, they gave him a Mustang as a rental so I took it around the block.
I have driven many Mustangs but this was the first time I have driven this new body style.
NO PEDESTRIANS WERE HARMED WHILE TEST DRIVING THE MUSTANG

Base V6 can feel quick, though it leaves a lot to be desired
The cheap infotainment screen is terrible
The interior is much smaller in the back than the Pre-2015 Mustangs. Didn’t affect me, but I would not want to ride back there. EVER.

My sister just bought one and road tripped to NY (from Missouri). I know it’s the V6, and I’m sure it’s the base model, but she’s loving it so far. It’s her fun car, she just turned 50.

See that is exactly who this car is for. People who want a fun car. I don’t think it would be the best choice for an auto enthusiast.

This is the first I’ve heard of ANY private individual buying the V6. The EcoBoost is the minimum most people consider.

I believe the V6 only exists for people who still think "Hell, no, I'm not driving a four-banger Mustang!" And rental fleets.

I’d think that people who refuse to drive a four-banger Mustang would refuse to settle for anything less than a “proper” eight.

For the most part, yes. But I think there’s just a sense of continuity to keep the V6 and V8 models. I'd wager the V6 will be quietly killed before the next model cycle. It's just a transition.

I agree with you. I don’t think Ford made any changes in the V6 between generations (not sure, I could be wrong).
I find the different strategies at Ford and Chevy interesting. In the Mustang, the V6 is the el cheapo version, while the turbo-4 is better. The Camaro is quite the opposite, and from what I’ve seen the most basic turbo-4 Camaro is still a nice place to be. I’d love to get my hands on one to try it myself. And the V6 Camaro is supposed to be even better.

We shared a 6cyl ‘67 Convertible growing up. She was searching for an inexpensive new Mustang convertible. I have no idea what it cost, but it wouldn’t have been my first choice. I’m just glad she has the car she wanted to buy. The other one the dealer had was an orange EB car, but when she got back from the test drive, it had been sold to someone else. Obviously the test drive didn’t make her feel that the EB was a necessity.

Agreed. It wouldn’t be my first choice, but she wanted a stylish, comfortable fun car that she can just drive around. She has no plans to track, autox, or even push the limits in any capacity. Ha. Just a car she and her husband can toss a set of golf clubs in and have the top down.

The back seat got even smaller !? Damn, it was crazy uncomfortable with four people in my 2008 already.

Yep. I should have snapped a picture. Both front seats were touching the back seats. I’m not even very tall. 6 ft exactly.
